Individual therapy, also called psychotherapy or talk therapy, consists of one-on-one counseling sessions with a licensed mental health professional. They help you work through substance misuse issues or other mental health concerns, altering your thoughts, mood, emotions, behaviors, and lifestyle habits when necessary.

What should I expect during individual therapy?
During individual therapy sessions, you visit with a licensed mental health provider and may complete one or more of the following forms of therapy:
